Definition:
A woman who becomes pregnant by artificial insemination or by implantation of a fertilized egg created by in vitro fertilization for the purpose of carrying the fetus to term for another person.
Normally the arrangement is that the surrogate mother doesn’t have to pay for anything.
However, when the surrogate mother takes tests with Natera, she becomes the patient and therefore, the insurance plan should be also under the surrogate mother’s name.
In the scenario you get a patient who asks why there’s a bill, educate her and you may advise to add the parents as authorized users so they can call in and pay the bill (Walkdown applies)
